Easy, Your overclock isn't stable. I mean come on, you dont even have any customizeable graphical settings for Darksiders and i get an instant reset!!! I want to do this to prepare myself for demanding games like Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, etc..
Not much help to you there. ATI user. I found out if i increase the core clock to beyond mhz or something, i get resets and black screen in some games regardless of powerlimit, voltage and memory clock speed. The Core clock seems to be very sensitive than Memory clocks regardless. Joined Jul 19, Messages 43, 7. What power supply are you using? Joined Jul 21, Messages 4, 0. I like to increase the Core as much as i can because that what affects the performance the most.
Where should we go? Overclocking: By increasing the frequency of the videocard's memory and GPU, we can make the videocard increase its calculation clock cycles per second.
It sounds hard, but it really can be done in less than a few minutes. Example: If your card runs at MHz which is pretty common these days then I suggest that you don't increase the frequency any higher than 30 to 50 MHz. More advanced users push the frequency often way higher. Usually when your 3D graphics start to show artifacts such as white dots "snow" , you should back down MHz and leave it at that.
Usually when you are overclocking too hard, it'll start to show artifacts, empty polygons or it will even freeze. Blkout 2[H]4U. Joined Mar 15, Messages 7, Couple of things to consider- 1. GDDR5 has an error correction function built into it, so while you might get a "crazy" overclock, if it is too high, the effective memory bandwidth drops as it corrects for errors. Therefore, your performance at 7.
That's a trial and error type thing as you play with it - you basically want to increase it until your performance starts to decline, then back it off a little bit. Overclocking the memory uses board power that could be used to put into the GPU, so a 7. We do overclocking for these cards by finding the maximum GPU frequency first, and then boosting the memory until it starts to hit what the maximum GPU clock was set to.
For Ti's, we take more of a balanced approach, as boosting both makes the best gameplay impact I've yet to see any performance decrease on either of my GTX 's from raising memory speed. I'm aware of the supposed error correction but I haven't seen it affect performance yet on either of my samples, both continue to perform better in multiple benchmarks until the memory finally crashes. Same happened with my AMD and also, I never saw a decline in performance from raising memory speed, until it finally crashed due to memory instability.
While I somewhat agree with the board power that you're talking about, I've yet to see my core speed go up any higher from lowering memory speed or even leaving it at stock. Power has not been an issue on my cards, it usually that the GPU simply won't overclock any further regardless of memory speed, at which point I can raise the memory speed as high as I want.
For example, my best Gigabyte does max boost core speed, memory speed, lowering the memory to even the default speed of MHz doesn't change my my core overclock at all, still goes no further than MHz. And while I tend to agree that in years past core overclocking generally does lead to much larger improvements than memory overclocking, I don't think that the and are the same. I've seen very good improvements from memory overclocking on these cards and I tend to think its because of the limited memory bandwidth so they simply respond very well to memory overclocking.

I have never done this before and the amount i have added to the core and memory seems a lot compared with others and im worried i might be doing something badly wrong. I have read and read but cant find anyone else that has done done it the way i have and got such high readings, also ive just read a bit about memory and doubling it.
Then re-clock to same settings and is stable but issue repeats following day? Similar threads Question RAM overclocking.
